£180million Pledged in Support of the Museum of London at West Smithfield
7th February 2017
We are pleased to announce that the Museum of London’s ambition to build a new museum in West Smithfield is getting ever closer to being realised.
The Museum of London has confirmed £180 million in financial support, from the City of London Corporation and the Mayor of London, towards the total £250 million cost of the project.
Barker Langham’s work on the project included the delivery of a comprehensive Economic and Financial Case to test and confirm the Museum’s commercial viability and assess the development’s wider economic impact.
The new Museum, to be designed by architects Stanton Williams and Asif Khan, will be the focal point in a thriving cultural hub within the City of London. Through the move, the Museum will aim to broaden its visitor profile and double its visitor attendance from one million to more than two million, display more of its rich collection and tell the 2,000-year story of London.
