Four new historic house museums in downtown Doha
The Msheireb Heritage Quarter is home to four new museums in restored traditional Qatari houses, each telling the story of a different aspect of Qatar's twentieth-century history. The Museums opened in 2015, creating a new focus in the historic city centre.
Barker Langham developed the masterplans for these museums, on topics as diverse as slavery, oil, and traditional family life. We also developed, managed and validated the content, based on our own research as well as the research of a series of academic panels.
Recently, our team provided research, script writing and interpretation planning services for the new permanent exhibition, ‘A Journey to the Heart of Life’, that officially opened to the public at Bin Jelmood House in November 2017.
