QE2: Still Making History
A new exhibition celebrating the life and heritage of the QE2
The Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) is an iconic transatlantic liner and cruise ship that was active from 1969 to 2008. Acquired by Dubai World in 2008, She is now docked in Dubai where She has begun Her new life as a luxury hotel.
Barker Langham worked with MET Studio to develop a temporary exhibition about the life and heritage of the iconic QE2 cruise ship. The temporary exhibition takes a step back in time to the QE2 in the year of Her maiden voyage, 1969, and evokes a number of public and private spaces inside the ship. The exhibition also features a large sculpture with interpretive elements celebrating the ship's renaissance in Dubai, and a timeline depicting important moments in the QE2’s long life.
The Ship and the exhibition are now both open to the public.
