Saruq Al-Hadid Archaeology Museum

Displaying Archaeological Treasures of the UAE

  • 2016

In Dubai's great Rub al-Khali desert, archaeologists have been excavating Saruq Al-Hadid and unearthing evidence of over five thousand years of activity. Dubai Municipality looked to develop a new museum dedicated to showcasing the finds and mysteries of Saruq Al-Hadid within a traditional Emirati building in the Historic Shindagha district.

Partnering with designers Action Impact, we provided joint creative and strategic direction for the delivery of the museum as well as curation of the collection, interpretation and content development, and exhibition design guidance. The visitor experience includes multi-media and hands-on environments to build the public’s understanding of the depth of archaeological discovery and treasures of the site.

The museum opened to the public in June 2016, the culmination of an intense 5-month process, and will be the first in a cultural district due to house upwards of 40 individual museums that focus on Emirati heritage, history and contemporary culture.
