Sherwood Forest
Sherwood Forest transformed
Nottinghamshire County Council identified a need to upgrade the visitor facilities at Sherwood Forest, which were no longer fit for purpose, nor providing a quality experience for the 350,000 people who visit each year.
Barker Langham worked with architects Kirkwood Maclean to provide strategic advice on interpretation, visitor experience, architecture and costs for a consortium comprising the RSPB, Sherwood Forest Trust, Thoresby Estate, and Continuum, that helped win the tender to create a new visitor centre.
We are developing an interpretive plan that will set the scene for a dynamic visitor experience, highlighting the legendary story of Robin Hood and the special forest environment in which he and his Merry Men lived.
